William Richardson diary, 17 February - 12 April 1815.

The February 17-April 12, 1815 diary of William Richardson chronicles his journey from Boston, MA to New Orleans, LA in which he transported a large amount of money for his employer. Richardson writes of his stops in numerous cities, including New York, Philadelphia, PA; Washington, D.C.; Alexandria, VA; and Lexington, KY. His journal is filled with descriptions of fellow passengers, overnight stays, and the obstacles he faced on his journey. Also mentions meeting Generals Coffee and Carrol and their brigades in the Mississippi Territory where they were stationed immediately following the War of 1812. Collection comprises one late-19th century copy of the diary and two photostats of the copy.
